Some Victims Are More Equal Than Others

George‘Free Jahar’ Chant As Boston Bombing Suspect Heads To Court « CBS Boston.

If you believe the hysterical media ( and there are those that still do ), the nation is riveted to the on-going trial of George Zimmerman for his role in the killing of Trayvon Martin in February of last year.

In the year 2012, there were 1009 murders in the State of Florida according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which was actually a rise of 2.4 percent from the year previous.  If we assume that this statistic is a general indication of what to expect for 2013, that would imply that there have been about 500 murders thus far this year in that state.   I’ll bet anyone a steak dinner that they can’t name even one case apart from the Travyon Martin killing.  While the jury is still out, the circumstances are not in question.   A suspicious person is seen in the gated community where lots of burglaries have recently occurred.  He (Martin) is confronted by a neighborhood watch man ( Zimmerman) and then assaults him.  Fearing for his life, Zimmerman shoots Martin dead.   Hardly a noteworthy crime in the naked city.

That is until it was framed as a murder of a defenseless black youth by a bullying white man.  Oh and it involved guns.  Then all of the requisite ingredients are there for sensationalism and grandstanding by the political and media vermin that appear like cockroaches after the lights go out.

Meanwhile, as they saying goes, a few months ago, while thousands of people  in Boston were participating in their annual marathon,  some intentionally planted explosives killed and maimed dozens of those involved.  To this day, the assailant, not the accused assailant, but the actual assailant Tsarnaev Dzokhar, only rarely comes up in the news and when he does, is the subject of sympathetic sentiments as if he were a modern day Che Guevara.   This crime had elements much wider than someone being shot during a robbery.  The Boston case has implications involving immigration, fanatical religious groups, international intelligence and general public security.  And by the way, dozens of innocents were injured.

Instead, the national media is transfixed by a story which by comparison, is essentially dog bites man.  Poor George Zimmerman looks like he’s going to have to be convicted of something in order to calm the beasts.  If not murder, then maybe manslaughter.  If not manslaughter, maybe child abuse since Martin was a teen.  If not child abuse, maybe for being overweight.  If he’s overweight, then maybe he’s eaten at one of Paula Deen’s restaurants.  If he’s eaten there, maybe he’s uttered a racial slur sometime in his past.  Something.   On the other hand, Dzokhar gets a fan club and nary a mention in the media for terrorizing an entire population.     Just goes to show you, in today’s America, you have to choose your victims wisely.
