If you’re a consumer of news and opinions, the most topical discussion of the day, yet still managing to be oblique, is the role of women in decision making capacities. Presently, the headline grabbing event is the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy. In brief, Clancy was on trial for the murder of her three children, acts of which she has already admitted. However, the real controversy surrounds the massive outpouring of support from the female community for her predicament. Thousands of them have publicly expressed their support for Clancy and have even funded a GoFundMe account in the amount of millions. This is somewhat reminiscent of the Ted Bundy murder case where women outed themselves as fans of Bundy’s during the trial.
Not surprisingly, this served only to inflame the growing views, at least on social media, that women were not to be taken seriously for their views. We can’t imagine a circumstance whereby a father kills his three children and other men rise up to defend him. There is no shortage of examples of irrational and inexplicable behavior on the part of women in our society. In the political space, we have such as Nancy Pelosi uttering outrageous nonsense, yet continuing to influence the US government. Recently, we had the instance of Supreme Court justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, unwilling or unable to define what is a woman. Of course there is Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez and Kamala Harris both of whom are professionals in the art of assembling words like they were random Lego blocks. Besides those notables, there is long list of female politicians that raise more red flags than a Soviet rally.
One could argue that this may be cherry picking since there are likely as many imbecilic actions by men. Is it therefore sexism to point out the irrational behaviors and beliefs of so many women? Well, you can call out a male for being corrupt, evil or incompetent, but not a woman, because, you know, misogynist. That’s the female “m” word. Is it possible to be the male equivalent of an E. Jean Carrol and still receive support from the males in the community? Of course not.
It’s generally accepted that women are more compassionate towards others and this softness is a significant differentiation from males. This compassion can overwhelm any logic which disproves their views, thus they are ideologically intransigent. Such is not the case with men, whom are generally more pragmatic. I don’t think these generalizations are inaccurate. Gender specific traits are likely baked in to our DNA. Such is the balance of nature.
However, recent demonstrations of wacky behavior go beyond simply being explained by the XX/YY differences. Has society mistaken the behavior of women as XX determined rather than for being what it actually is; and that is… infantile behavior? Think about what we often see in loud public displays of whatever the issue of the day may be: The repeated chanting of a simple refrain (if we’re lucky, otherwise it’s just a cacophony of wailing ); the costumes or colorful outfits; the placards which look like they were done in crayon. These are similar to techniques employed by toddlers to get their way. Toddlers are also not receptive to reason, but instead continue their tantrums unless their wishes are granted. As most parents are wont to do, they give in to the tantrums just to stop the noise. With toddlers, there’s often no consistency. What may be acceptable in the morning may not be by afternoon.
When you survey the issues that are important for militant women these days, first among them is the right to abortion even as they protest that every life is valuable. They preach for the ‘deserved’ safety of all women, yet champion the rights of transgenders in women’s sports. Despite the progress made in the boardrooms and executive offices in the West, they still rail about the glass ceiling. In the education system, almost 60% of all recent bachelors degrees were conferred on women and yet rational thinking is like string theory to them. On the other hand, a 2023 Deloitte study revealed that 92 to 95% of blue collar jobs were held by men, or a 12 to 1 ratio. As far as I know, there are no formal impediments to women in blue collar jobs. It just doesn’t seem to be what they want. It’s probably unfair to characterize all women as being unhinged. It may be just the extremes among them that grab all the headlines. I suspect that it’s less and less about being women as it is about being childish. It’s time for the adults to stop tolerating and justifying infantilism and tantrums.
This behavior is not only annoying. A more sinister aspect is something that George Orwell expressed in his writings. He stated that it was women, particularly young women, who were exploited to be the enforcers of a tyrannical regime. His view was that young women were likely to be the most bigoted adherents to party ideology. Like children, many of these radical women are the useful idiots that tyrants love. Gradually, the agenda of crazed women influences the culture of a compliant society. We need only look at the state of western societies run by feminist ideologies. Rather than being the ‘progressive’ societies they pride themselves to be, they are backward looking, navel gazing societies collapsing from within. In the animal kingdom, no animals act against their own interests. Except lemmings.
