The emasculation of western society is well under way.  Poor Brent Musburger, who was only stating the obvious when he commented on the stunning attractiveness of Miss Alabama at a football game weeks ago, is being chastized by certain media types for his overt declaration of her va-va-va-voomness.   Though Musburger didn’t feel the need to apologize, his employer ESPN felt compelled to do so; to whom we’re not sure.  To Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama? Well she IS in the beautiful gal business, so that doesn’t make sense.  Perhaps to less attractive women since by inference, they are all made to feel inferior, less empowered, yada yada yada.

Maybe the ESPN boss’ wife made the network apologize.  Sort of as when a couple walks down the street and the wife is monitoring the eyes of her husband when a pretty gal walks by.  “You were looking!”  More likely, the Network felt compelled to respond because apologizing seems to be the fashionable thing to do these days.  Like gangnam style dancing,  everyone’s doing it.   No doubt  this phenomenon started with the weepy, sobby daily talk shows such as Phil Donahue and of course Oprah Winfrey.  Some transgression, real or imagined was ‘shared’ with everyone; tears flowed, a group hug followed and at the end, absolution.   But in most of those cases, they were cheaters, liars, murderers etc., and they deserved to apologize.  Today, we have Lance Armstrong and other disgraced public people who genuinely do have something to be sorry about.  Have at it.

But Brent was stating what every red blooded guy was thinking and what most women want to hear.   He was obviously amused enough by the hoopla when he snuck in the comment about fellow announcer Holly Rowe being “smokin” at the end of a broadcast weeks later.  We’ve become conditioned by an effeminate liberal media to subscribe to some imaginary and humorless value set.  So much so, that the regular folk have become an oppressed majority, at the mercy of the minuscule group of PC people running media.  People are afraid to be branded with the tired canards of intolerance and  insensitivity which the hyena-like mainstream media are wont to do upon those not subscribing to their particular worldview.

I say boink ’em. We’re all much better off if honest expressions are aired in general without the fear of offending some Orwellian value panel.  Let men be men and women be women…a darn good arrangement.  And we’re not sorry about that.

I actually applaud Al Gore for making the wise business decision; he sold out.  Hmm, maybe that didn’t come out right.  Apart from his political career, Albert Gore is at heart a businessman and a very good one if you look at the record.  Despite an undistinguished political career, he wound up being invited to the boards of Google and Apple, both gigs that soothed the hurt of not being elected President.  I don’t think we can begrudge somebody who starts humbly and then and builds himself a business empire worth hundreds of millions.  Well that’s not true, Mitt Romney was begrudged.   If you acquire you wealth through fortuitous marriages like John Kerry or Nancy Pelosi, there’s much less stigma attached to your wealth,  there’s more dignity to it.

I’m sure it must have galled Al that he didn’t receive perpetual lifetime royalties  for inventing the Internet.   Despite this setback, he was still able to get into the film business, made an eco fantasy movie and received a Nobel prize for doing so.  Heck, if Michael Moore can make money off fantasy films, so can he.  But Nobel money only goes so far when you have expenses such as private planes, limos and beach houses to upkeep.  You can’t spread the gospel about wasting resources and global calamity in a dogsled living in a two-wide trailer.   A guy starts an enterprise which, from the beginning was predicated on a ridiculous premise, makes no money at it and then sells it off for $500 million dollars?  That’s sheer genius.

In the wake of this recent successful business coup, staffers at the soon to be renamed Current TV are bewildered at what they perceive as the blatant hypocrisy and mercenary actions taken by their fearless leader.  Selling eco sensitive Current TV to Al Jazeera is akin to selling  a veggie restaurant to KFC.  Dennis Miller said it best when he noted that Gore profited greatly from the prophet business.   Staffers should have gotten a clue that something was up when the Christmas bonus included some free gas cards and prayer mats.

Keen business school students should stay tuned for Al’s next great adventure.  We don’t know what calamity will soon befall all earthlings, but you can bet it will be lucrative.
