Animal Farm Redux
link Mass. hysteria over New York Times execs bonuses – NYPOST.com.
As if this is a shock to anyone familiar with the hypocrisy of lefties. This is lifted straight out of George Orwell’s Animal Farm. Both the NY Times and the Boston Globe are flaming left periodicals pretending to be newspapers. The bias of the reporting and the unhinged nature of their op ed contributors is well known and source of great derision among genuine news people. For those reasons alone, circulation has plunged at these two papers and in fact, The Times is on constant rumor watch for bankruptcy.
The ill advised marriage of these two papers yielded huge shortfalls in income for the Boston Globe which led to a painful restructuring for the employees, many of whom are union members, a strong constituency of support for liberals and Democrats. According to this article, over 10 million dollars in concessions were made in order to keep the Globe afloat. Hey, bird cages have to lined and fish have to be wrapped.
What a coincidence that the top execs at the parent company, The Times, were paid almost exactly that amount in salary and bonus for 2009, another lousy year for the Times as well. Welcome to socialism people. Some are always more equal than others. Let’s see if they stand up on their hind legs.
